The
Text Book Library |
|
A Text Book Library was started in the
college out of the amount sanctioned by the University Grants Commission. The
students are given text-books from this library as per the rules framed by
Library Committee. It is one of the richest library in the state.

Bank |
|
Out of the grants received from the University Grants Commission and
State Government, a Book Bank was established during the 4th Plan period
and is continued during the current plan period with further grants.
Text books from the Bank are issued to students on long term
basis.

The
Seminars |
|
There are seminars in all subjects in which Under Graduate and Post Graduate
teaching facilities are available. Each seminar has a stock of large number of
essential books on the subject for the use of student and teachers. The seminars
are run as per rules framed by the Principal. |

Students'
Common Room
|
|
Common Rooms for students are provided where students spend their leisure times.
The common rooms are opened during college hours and are provided with some
items of indoor games and newspapers. The Boys' Common Room is managed by a
committee consisting of a Secretary, an Asst. Secretary and five class
representatives nominated from each class. The Girls' Common Room is managed by
a Secretary selected among the Girl Students. They work under the
supervision of members of staff in charge of common room nominated by the
Principal.

Extra-mural
Lectures
|
|
In every session, a number of extra-mural lectures on various subjects are
delivered by members of staff of the college and guest speakers are
invited from other colleges. Universities & also the walks of life.
These lectures are highly informative and supplement the knowledge gathered in
class rooms.

Hobby-Center-
Photography Club
|
|
A photography club has
been established in this college under Hobby Center Scheme of the N.C.C.
Directorate. Orissa with a view to educate the students in the art of
Photography. Student who are genuinely interested in photography and have
their own cameras may become members on payment of admission fees of Rs. 1/- and
membership fee of Rs.1/- For girl students, the fees in Rs.0.50. The membership is open to students of
all the colleges situated in Sambalpur town. Necessary technical assistance is
being provided to members for taking photographs and for washing and developing
films in the dark room.

Fine
Art Training Center
|
|
Provision is there at the center for teaching the
fundamentals of painting, modeling, sculptures to the young talents. Since the
number of seats are limited applicants are required to take a qualifying
examination and only successful candidates are enrolled as trainees. The center
organizes class room teaching, exhibitions to foster interest in the fine arts
among students.

The
National Cadet Corps (N.C.C.)
|
|
N.C.C. training helps students to build their character, develops in them a
sense of discipline and command ship. N.C.C. certificate holders get preference
over other in any competitive fields. Selected candidates may attend camp
at the All India Level and at the battalion level, which arte organized every
year.
The college has been allowed 115 NCC
Coy with an enrolment strength of 120 cadets. Students desirous of enrolling
themselves as cadets apply to the NCC Officer of the college in the prescribed
form, available in the college NCC office.
A cadet after enrolment must continue for three consecutive years so as to get
the maximum benefit out of the NCC. He must attend a minimum of 75% of the parades
( held on Sunday only) and camp to be eligible for certificate examinations.
From the second year cadets are provided with refreshment, on parade days and washing
allowance at the end of the session.

Store
|
|
The Gangadhar Meher College Consumers'
Co-operative Store limited has been formed with the objectives of
promoting the economic interest of its members and particularly assisting
them in obtaining consumers goods and other daily necessaries of life at
reasonable prices. The area of operation is confined to members of the
staff and students of G.M. College, Sambalpur. The students and employee
of the college can become members of the stores by purchasing shares
worth of Rs. 2/- and Rs. 5/- respectively.

Yoga
Center
|
|
The Yoga
Centre of the college imparts physical education and creates balanced
state of mind among the students. This centre is under the supervision of Mr.
Jayadev Dandasena (Retd. Professor), who trains the students about different
exercises, which can keep them hale and hearty, both physically and mentally.
