| 1. |
Student have to take at least
one comprehensive general examination during the academic year besides the
routine tutorial tests /internal assessment tests. |
| 2. |
Student who fail to take the comprehensive general examination will not be
considered for promotion to the next higher class or will not be sent up for the
final examination, as the case may be. In case two comprehensive general
examinations are held during the academic year and a student takes one of them he
may be considered for promotion or for being sent up for
the final examination. |
| 3. |
In exceptional cases where a student fails to take any of the comprehensive
general examination on valid grounds, the principal may consider his case for
promotion or for being sent up for the final examination. |
| 4. |
Selection of students for promotion or for being sent up for the final
examinations will be on the basis of their performance in various examinations
held during the year. |
| 5. |
Infringement of any of these rules printed on the cover page of the Answer Book
will be regarded as breach of discipline of the examination and dealt with. |
| 6. |
(a) |
Students admitted into +3 Science/Art/Commerce courses from the
academic session 2002-03 shall have to appear 1st year Degree Exam.,2nd Year
Degree Exam., and Final Year Degree Exam. in three consecutive years. |
|
(b) |
There shall be Sessional Tests in all Honours Theory Papers. In each
paper 20% of the full marks are earmarked for the Sessional Tests. For each paper, there
shall be 2(two)Sessional Tests each carrying 20% of marks, the average of which will be taken to the Degree
Exams. However, there shall be no
back or improvement tests for this. |

Final
Examination: |
|
|
The final examinations are conducted according to
regulations framed from time to time by the authorities of the college. |
|
Existing
regulation regarding improvement in M.A./M.Sc./M.Com. Examination:
|
1. |
A candidate may improve his/her performance in not more than four papers
choosing such papers either from part-I or part-II or from both part-I and
part-II subject to the following conditions: |
|
a) |
Either he can improve in four papers in all in any one chance of the next two
immediate chances subsequent to the publication of his (final result). OR |
|
b) |
He can appear in any of the papers of part-I examination held immediately after
the publication of his part-I results along with his part-II examination and the
remainders, if any, in one chance of the next two immediate chances subsequent to
the publication of his (Final result) |
|
c) |
A candidate shall not be allowed to take improvement in the same paper more than
once. |
|
d) |
The higher
of the marks secured by him in each paper taken separately shall be retained for
the purpose of computing his final results. |
|
e) |
In subjects where there are practical/field works and dissertation a candidate
may be allowed to reappear in one or more practical paper/field work and
dissertation if he has failed or has failed to appear in those papers, provided that a candidate shall not be allowed to reappear in more than four
papers theory and practical combined) as stipulated in the
regulations. |

Guidelines
for filling up back paper and Honours Improvement Examination
|
| A) |
Back Paper Examinations: |
|
1 |
A candidate failing to secure 30% marks in pass subject in First/Final
Examination of G.M. Autonomous College may be allowed to take those pass subjects
as back papers for the First/Final Examinations. |
|
2 |
A candidate appearing back in any paper having practical, he/she is to take both
the theory and practical, as taking examination in a subject means Theory and
Practical together. |
|
3 |
A candidate failing to secure 45% marks in Honours papers in the
First/Second/Final Examinations G.M.(Autonomous)College may be allowed to take
those paper/papers as back for the First/Second/Final Examination. |
|
4 |
If candidate is marked absent in any of the papers such a candidate shall have
to reappear in that paper(s)/subject(s) in order that his/her results are
declared. |
|
5 |
As per the new regulations for Back Papers and improvements, students are advised
to get guidelines from the Controller of the
Examinations. |
|
|
|
| B) |
Improvement :
|
|
1. |
If a candidate has passed the Final Year Degree Examination without Honours
he/she may fill up the form for Honours improvement. |
|
2. |
If a candidate has passed the Final Year Degree Examination with Second Class
Honours he/she may fill up the form in all Honours Eight Papers of Honours
subject both First, Second and Final Theory and Practical Examination separately
and the higher of the marks in each paper shall be taken into consideration for
determining their results and class. However , distinctions if earned by the
candidate,shall not be affected by improvement examinations under the clause,
provided that a candidate shall be allowed to improve his/her performance only
once and within a period of two years from the date of his/her passing the
B.A.,/B.Sc./B.Com. (Three Year Degree Courses) Examinations of
G.M.(Autonomous) College.he/she is to pay the requisite fees for both the
Examinations for each case. |

A candidate shall be allowed to improve his/her performance only once and within
a period of two years from the date of passing Final Examination of Three Years
Degree Course Examinations. For Example : A student who has appeared in 2001 and
has not filled up the form for improvement in 2002,he/she is eligible to fill
up the form in 2003 only. |
|
3. |
A candidate who has passed the Three Years Degree Final Examination securing a
minimum of 45% marks in aggregate of all core subjects, can appear in Honours
Examination in one of the core subject, offered by him/her in the Pass Course or
in English he/she has passed the B.A. Examination, provided he/she has secured at
least 45% marks in that subject all the four papers of that paper taken together). For
candidates passing Three Years Degree B.A./B.Com. pass Course the
Compulsory pass paper under core 3 shall be taken into account to determine the
minimum eligibility criteria of 45% marks in the subject.
