Gangadhar Meher College, Sambalpur has seven(07) hostel  for residential accommodation of the students.
1. The JANARDANA PUJARI  P.G. Hostel  meant for P.G. Students
2. The TRUST FUND  Hostel for undergarduates
3. The SILVER JUBILEE Hostel for undergraduates
4. The EKALABYA Chhatrabas meant for the S.C. & S. T. Students.
5. The G.M. COLLEGE LADIES  Hostel-1 for women students
6. The G.M. COLLEGE LADIES  Hostel-2 for women students
7. The MAIN Hostel meant for M.C.A. students
Hostel Administration & Rules :-
Hostel Administration :-

The Principal is the administrative head of all hostels and is assisted by Superintendents appointed by the Principal. A committee, known as Students' Residence Committee, looks after the grievances and problems of the boarders. All the superintendents and assistant superintendents are ex-office members of the reside committee besides some senior members of staffs are appointed as members by the principal. One of the members of the committee acts as member secretary.  The hostel accounts is maintained by clerical staff of the college, appointed by the Principal on honorarium basis.

Hostel Rules :-

Application for admission to a hostel should be addressed to the Principal in the prescribed form. Allotment of hostel will be made by the Principal. No students can claim, as a matter of right to continue in a particular hostel where he was a resident during the previous year.

Withdrawal from a hostels requires prior sanction of the Principal Applications for withdrawal should be made by guardians. No Boarder shall be allowed to leave the hostel without the previous permission of the Superintendent who will ascertain that all dues to the hostel have been paid before leaving the hostel.

Wherever boarders leave the hostel for any vacation or holidays or for any private purpose, they have to apply to the Superintendent for leave and obtain his permission.

 The hostels remain closed during the Puja and the Summer Vacation. Boarders wishing to remain in the Hostel during the Puja Holidays must obtain special permission from the Superintendent.

Boarders must abide by the rules and regulations of the hostel which are laid down from time to time by the authorities. Violation of any of the rules shall be viewed seriously and shall make the boarder concerned liable to strong disciplinary action including expulsion from the hostel as well as from the College.

6 Spitting on the walls, doors, floors or furniture of hostels is strictly prohibited.

Disfiguring the walls, doors, pillars, furniture etc. in any way and putting on them play card, posters and other papers are strictly prohibited.

 Boarders are warned against tampering with or mishandling the electrical & sanitary fitting of the hostel.

9 The use of heaters, irons and other electrical gadgetry is prohibited.

Boarders are not allowed to enter other rooms not allotted to them in the absence of the occupants of that room.

11 The use of unperceived drugs or intoxicant is prohibited in the hostel.

Boarders should not meet the higher authorities enamasse to put forward their grievances. They may, however, send their representatives with the permission of the Superintendent of the hostel.

Ragging in the hostel is strictly forbidden. Boarders indulging in it will make themselves liable to removal from the hostel. In extreme cases, they may even be expelled from the College.

Taking meals in the hostel mess is compulsory for all boarders, when the mess is in running condition. If a boarder in irregular in taking meals in the hostel mess, he has to pay for a certain number of meals as fixed by the Superintendent for that particular month. In exceptional cases the authorities may allow a boarder to take his meal outside. and in that case shall have to pay to the hostel Rs. 0.50 (fifty paisa) only per meal not consumed during the month.

No Boarder is allowed entertain a visitor without the written permission of the authorities.

16 However, the boarders may nominate representatives to assist the Superintendent in different matters.

Notice issued by the office bearers of the Boarders Association without the counter signature of the Superintendent or the Assistant Superintendent will be invalid. Office bearers issuing illegal notices will be liable to disciplinary action.

The Office bearers of the Boarders Association shall not hold meeting or incur any expenditure for hostel without obtaining prior permission of the authorities.

There are fixed hours for study & meals determined by the Superintendent of the hostels. No boarders shall be absent from the hostel during the study period and after the night meals.

20 Hostel gates will be closed at 11 pm & Boarders are advised to be inside the hostel before the gates are closed. In no case relaxation in this regard will be encouraged. In case of Women’s Hostels, gates are closed at 5.30 p.m.

The bearers of the hostel should not be treated as personal servants of the boarders. The boarders are expected to work by themselves. The bearers have got fixed hours of work and they are controlled by the Superintendent.

The Principal reserves himself the right to alter, amend, abrogate any of the rules mentioned above.
Note : Women boarders should be accompanied by father/mother along with the proposed local guardian at the time of admission into the hostel. Parents are advised to nominate responsible persons known to them as local guardian. Parents, nominated local guardian and a person authorized by either of them can only meet a women boarder during day time i.e., between 4.30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m.
